When it comes to taking care of your cat’s health, cleaning and bathing your pet plays a big role, hence why it is important to choose quality products that do not harm cats and at the same time keeps them clean. The FURminator deShedding Shampoo for cats is one of these products. We had the chance of reviewing it, and here we have our impressions.

The FURminator deShedding Shampoo is a product that has been formulated to work with cats and dogs as well. The formula has been built to promote a healthy skin, a healthy-looking topcoat and reduces excess shedding in cats.

This shampoo is great to combat bad odors in cats, and leaves them smelling delicious with a fresh scent that we have not enjoyed in other products. Taking a look at the label, you will see that this shampoo also contains Omega 3, Omega 6, proteins and vitamins, which means that you are nourishing your cat’s skin and promoting overall health.

How does this shampoo reduces shedding in cats? According to their own words: “The renourishment and revitalization of the shafts prolong the growth cycle and reduce shedding to a more natural process.”

Upon opening the bottle of FURminator deShedding shampoo for cats, you will notice two things. The nice scent and the strange consistency of the product. Being accustomed to thick gel-like shampoos, I was not prepared for the thin consistency of this FURminator shampoo for cats. It’s no big deal, though, just a matter of adjusting the way you normally used to apply shampoo to your cat.

But the biggest plus of this product is that it works as advertised! You know, these days it is somewhat hard to find those kind of products… While bathing your cat you will notice that a lot of hair may come off. The directions are to apply shampoo for 5 minutes, we did just that and we were surprised by the effectiveness of the FURminator Deshedding Shampoo.

Final results after the bathing sessions? Well, cats seem to be really happy with the results. We on the other hand were happily surprised by the shiny results. Many people use this product along with the FURminator deShedding tool, but if you don’t combine the two you will still enjoy some excellent results.

Final verdict? We totally recommend the FURminator shampoo for cats. At $16.75 it may be more expensive than other alternatives, but since it works as promised we really don’t mind!

There are many reasons why people choose not to give their cats cat vaccinations. Some people believe that their cats may have side effects from the vaccinations while others think that a cat that lives indoors does not need vaccinations. There are many aspects to taking good care of a cat. You must provide food, a clean home, toys and exercise. However, these things are not enough. Cat vaccinations are essential for the good health and well-being of a cat.

If you have an indoor cat, you may think it does not need cat vaccinations. This is because many indoor cats never go outside long enough to interact with other animals. However many cats have been exposed to viruses in their lifetime. This may have been at a shelter, store or other locations before you adopted the cat. Some of these viruses cannot be shed. Due to this, your cat may get recurrent infections and infect other pets in your home. In order to keep your cat healthy you must get a vaccination for the feline distemper virus at the very least. This virus is hardy. Contagious and can lead to death if not properly treated.

Essential Cat Vaccinations

Your cat may not need every vaccination that is available for felines. In order to determine whether this is the case or not you must consult with your vet. There are some vaccinations that your vet will deem as essential. One of them is the feline leukemia vaccination. This virus is easily spread and can be deadly. If there is, even the slightest chance that your cat will come into contact with other cats it is important that he or she gets this vaccination. There are other vaccinations that are optional. Some cats will need them while others will not. Therefore, it is vital that you discuss the needs of your cat with the vet.

The one shot that vets will make sure that you give to your cat is a rabies vaccination. This is because rabies can be transmitted to humans and other animals such as dogs. Keeping you cat healthy is important to the cat, your family and other pets that live in the home. By getting your cat vaccinated, you will eliminate the risk of dangerous feline illnesses infecting it. If you do have any concerns about the vaccination process and which vaccinations are, vital for the health of your cat you should discuss them with your vet.

Cat bad breath or halitosis has many causes. Cats normally do not have terribly foul breath; it is in the cat’s best interest to explore the possible causes of the bad breath to prevent the malodorous occurrence.

The halitosis may be caused by something as simple as foreign bodies in the mouth. Animals like to eat grass, the reasons are debated; but they do eat grass. Cats who are not outside may have played with an object and gotten fuzz or lint off of it. Human hair can also be ingested by cats and become wrapped up in the mouth around the teeth. Cats like to eat meat like dogs but lack the dog’s strong crunching molars; bones may become lodged in the cat’s mouth. A pet owner may be able to examine the cat’s mouth in some circumstances and dislodge the foreign object; the cat must be very tame and not in extreme pain to accomplish this. If the cat is not cooperative, a visit to the veterinarian is warranted and necessary.

If the cat owner is able to examine the cat’s mouth for foreign objects, it is the time to notice if there is anything else unusual about the health of the mouth. Gingivitis is inflammation of the gums and is a prime cause of bad breath in cats. Abscessed teeth are also common and a cause of cat bad breath. Tumors of the mouth, or oral neoplasia, may be evident during the owner’s exam. An oral ulceration may also cause the odor emanating from the cat. Periodontitis is inflammation of the tissue around the tooth and is another cause. All of these conditions are treatable by a veterinarian and need to be addressed immediately so as not to endanger the health of the feline.

Lung diseases such as lung cancer can also cause halitosis in cats. Severe kidney disease is also the cause behind the bad breath on occasion. Only a veterinarian is capable of diagnosing these diseases. It is of the utmost importance a cat owner monitor the cat for any new or different behaviors; he will then be better equipped to relay any pertinent symptoms to the veterinarian. The symptoms owners need to monitor are, but are not limited to oral discharge, bloody oral discharge, oral pain, excessive drooling, difficulty swallowing, depression, difficulty eating, coughing, or extreme thirst.

The veterinarian will do a thorough physical exam on the cat; he may anesthetize the cat to do an oral exam. X-rays may be taken also. The course of treatment is dependent on the findings of these procedures.

In summary cat bad breath may be caused by simple tartar buildup or something much more serious. Your veterinarian will be able to advise you as to the proper course of action for any bad breath problems. Brushing the cat’s teeth daily is often advised; a special diet may also be prescribed.

When we talk about fungus infections in cats, we are basically talking about fungus in the skin of the cat and deep infections, examples include ringworm and histoplasmosis. The time I takes to fully eliminate the infection and get rid the cat of fungus will depend on the type of infection, the treatment received, and the severity of the fungal infection.

As you can see, it would be easy to just throw a number here, but there are many factors that come into play. Know though, that some infections can take very months to fully subside, and treatment must be followed religiously, as every day skipped is a day we give the chance for the infection to spread and thrive again.

A cat stool will normally be firm and formed, but what if your cat starts dropping loose stool? Can something be done to help with this problem and strengthen the cat’s stool? Read on to learn about this problem.

Loose stool appears as a result of intestinal parasites, an inappropriate amount of fiber in the diet, eating the wrong things, food intolerance, some diseases and even stress. Cats who are at more danger of having loose stool are those who are fed by treats, leftovers and those cats who spend a lot of time outside eating strange food.

One of the ways to control your cat stool is by giving them a diet rich in fibers, but sometimes this doesn’t work. One product that sometimes is recommended for these cases is called pet psyllium fiber supplement you can find it available in many brands.

If after trying these two measures your cat’s stool hasn’t strengthened then you need to take the cat to the veterinary to check for problems with parasites or signs of an illness.

Building a first aid kits for our cats is very important, because we have to be prepared in the case of an emergency. In this article, you will learn how to create the cat’s first aid kit and will also get some few tips that will be useful If you are a cat owner, then this article is a must read.

The first thing you need to do is grab a bag on container where you will store all the contents of the first aid kit. This container should be easily accessible and recognizable, in case you need someone to grab it for you. As an extra tip, write a paper with all the emergency numbers for your cat and stick it to the bag or container; the numbers should include Animal Poison Control, the vet’s phone number, your local pet hospital, taxi services that allow pets.

Essential Items to Keep in a First Aid kit for Cats

The following items are essential to treat minor injuries, and keep your cat healthy. Check that you have everything:

•	Tweezers
•	Peroxide, this substance can induce vomit when the cat has been poisoned, use it only after consulting with Animal Poison Control.
•	Triple antibiotic treatment, for cuts.
•	Bandages
•	Nail trimmer
•	Scissors, for necessary cutting of hair.
•	Sterile telpha pads, they shouldn’t be sticky as it is useless with fur.
•	Saline solution, this can help clearing out dirt, sand and other eye irritants.
•	Sterile Vaseline for cat’s eyes. This is a great product to avoid water an soap coming in contact with the eyes

Preparing Yourself to Give First aid to Your Cat

All these items will be useless if you are not prepared to give first aid treatment to your cat. There are many great cat health books that can provide you with all the information you need to know. Remember that first aid is immediate, seek out veterinary help as soon as possible.

Today we are going to cover a topic courtesy of guest author Alen, about cat pregnancy. We haven’t talked about this before, so I think now is a good time to include it in the site, read the article below for some very basics about cat pregnancy, we’ll expand the topic on following posts.

Are you ready to have kittens? Raising kittens is financially expensive and time consuming. You will not only have to provide adequate food, but arrange areas for sleeping, playing and bathroom.

Remember, if you find your cat is pregnant, you should visit your veterinarian. Your veterinarian can confirm the pregnancy and provide information and instructions on how to care for your pregnant cat.

How to tell if your pet cat is pregnant: a. The first sign to look for is in the nipples. A female cat’s nipples will turn pink during the second or third week of pregnancy. Around day 21, a pregnant cat’s nipples will often turn bright pink. b. Your cat will slowly gain weight and This is the time when she will start consuming more food. c. She has less of a desire to go outdoors.

What to do when you know your cat is pregnant: a. Never get her vaccinated, vaccinations and other medications can cause abortions. b. Make sure you are feeding her more. c. Encourage her to play and exercise so that she stays in good health.

Find the best area for your pregnant cat so that she can give birth safely: a. Make sure that your home is free from dangerous objects such as toxins, pesticides, unsafe animal liquids, foods or items that might be ingested, etc. b.
